About the Role

Miller Kaplan’s Risk Advisory team is seeking a Senior Manager to join our Cybersecurity practice. This role leads multiple client engagements in cybersecurity assessments, vCISO services, and advisory projects, focusing on identifying security gaps and implementing solutions.

The Senior Manager evaluates client security environments, develops practical roadmaps, and works directly with client IT and engineering teams to improve security controls and processes. This role combines client-facing advisory with hands-on execution, suitable for those with experience in security functions and translating that into actionable solutions.

This role is ideal for individuals with extensive experience in developing and maintaining client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and growing a cybersecurity practice.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day workload of members of the Risk Advisory team on assigned engagements and work deliverables.
  • Deliver regular performance feedback to Risk Advisory team members on engagement performance and overall performance against competencies.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training material.
  • Act as a main point of contact for assigned client engagements, from start to finish, including engagement planning, budgeting, resource scheduling, fieldwork execution, reporting, overseeing delivery teams, quality review, etc.
  • Manage, lead, and perform cybersecurity assessments, cyber threat and risk assessments, network and security reviews, compliance assessments, and system configuration reviews.
  • Lead vCISO and cybersecurity advisory engagements, including security maturity assessments, cybersecurity roadmap development, governance program design, executive reporting, board-level presentations, and strategic security planning.
  • Proactively interact with client management to gather information, resolve problems, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead cybersecurity strategies and programs by driving implementation and improvement of client security controls, processes, and tools (e.g., vulnerability management, access controls, monitoring solutions).
  • Facilitate meetings between management and other stakeholders throughout the engagement process.
  • Collaborate directly with client IT and engineering teams to implement security solutions, remediate vulnerabilities, and improve operational security processes.
  • Provide exceptional client service and develop strong working relationships that support successful project execution.
  • Stay up-to-date with latest information security trends, threats, vulnerabilities, and potential control techniques.
  • Support and oversee the execution of remediation efforts and implementation activities, ensuring security recommendations are translated into practical, sustainable solutions within the client environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, Data Science, or other related field.
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in a security-related leadership role, preferably at a public accounting or consulting firm or Fortune 1000 company.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of NIST CSF, CIS Top Controls, ISO 27001, ISO 27002, SOC-2, NIST 800-171, CMMC, PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR (EU & UK), and United States privacy law.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple engagements.
  • Strong professional service ethic, client-focused, and results-driven.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
