Key Responsibilities
- Personnel Supervision
- Assist with the development and delivery of training programs
- Maintain high service standards across designated logistics teams
- Support and foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture
- Venue / Village Planning
- Manage the overall Venue / Village Logistics budget
- Verify resource requirements
- Oversee the functional allocation of Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FFE)
- Contribute to the drafting, refining, publishing, and distribution of the Delivering to Venues Guide
- Coordinate with LA28 functions and suppliers to develop and maintain an integrated supply chain
- Develop initial logistics operating plans
- Establish clear operating protocols with Security and third-party service providers
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives
- Minimize waste and maximize asset recovery through effective post-Games disposition strategies
- Foster workplace safety initiatives
- Operations
- Coordinate Venue Logistics Managers (VLMs)
- Monitor Venue and Village activities
- Lead incident response and resolution
- Support the execution of contingency plans and emergency procedures
- Participate in daily briefings, debriefings, and situation reports
Background And Requirements
- 7 years of progressive logistics, supply chain, or venue operations leadership experience
- Previous Venue Logistics management experience in a major event is strongly preferred – Olympic and Paralympic Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, FIFA World Cup, etc.
- Proven management abilities overseeing workforce of 5+ direct reports and 50+ staff members
- Excellent analytical skills: ability to make decisions both independently and within a team environment
- Strong technical skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- A team player with a strong service focus and a desire to go the extra mile
- Demonstrate ability in upward / downward communication
- Competence to present and clearly communicate to audiences in a multitude of public / private settings, as required
- Experience working in a multi-cultural, multi-national environment
- High attention to detail
- Confident self-starter – Ability to make quick decisions, gathering input from key stakeholders and advancing the ball forward with pace
- Collaborative and flexible approach – Ability to roll with the transitional nature of the organization as it grows and establishes itself in the coming years
- Create and manage multi-layered budgets
- Communicate effectively through written documents – policies, procedures, memos, etc.
- Computer skills – Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, etc.
- Influencing skills – ability to distill information and drive understanding and buy in across multiple stakeholders and executives
- Team player – ability to scale up and down and drive both Logistics and flawless execution
- Physical Requirement and Working Conditions
- Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office
- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
- The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment
- Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods
- Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games
