Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update standard costs (materials, labor, overhead, machine rates) based on budgets provided by plant controllers and procurement.
- Assist with new item creation and other supply chain finance master data.
- Oversee routing accuracy in ERP systems.
- Ensure accurate work-in-process (WIP) and finished goods valuation.
- Analyze and report on key manufacturing variances, including purchase price variance, production variance, and absorption/volume variance. Drive root cause analysis and corrective action where necessary.
- Translate financial data into operational insights for plant managers.
- Partner with production, engineering, and supply chain leaders to reduce scrap and waste, and optimize labor and machine efficiency.
- Provide cost support for lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with cost roll-ups and estimates for new products.
- Assist with monthly close for manufacturing sites.
- Assist with monthly volume and cost forecasting.
- Assist with updates/upgrades of SAP ERP system.
- Ensure strong internal controls over inventory and manufacturing costs.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Improve accuracy and efficiency of ERP cost systems.
- Manage and mentor team members.
- Drive standardization of processes across plants.
- Identify and implement automation/reporting improvements.
- Champion a data-driven culture within operations.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting or plant finance.
- Experience in standard costing and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) required.
Skills & Competencies
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, cost drivers, and activity-based costing.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to connect finance to operations.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Power BI, and other dashboarding tools.
Pay
The salary range for this full-time position is $109,000 - $172,700, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
