What Will You Be Doing?

The Sr. Manager Operational Safety Programs is responsible to ensure that appropriate standards are established and maintained to provide the highest level of safety for Frontier Airlines operations. They will lead the on-going execution, improvement, and sustainability of the Frontier Airlines Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), Flight Operations Quality Assurance Program (FOQA), Fatigue Risk Management Program (FRMP) and safety investigation program. Furthermore, they will indirectly support the sustainability and improvement of the Frontier Airlines Safety Management System (SMS).

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and manage the proper functioning of the Flight Operations Quality Assurance Program (FOQA), Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), and Fatigue Risk Management Program (FRMP)
  • Partner with all Operating Division leaders to ensure robust analysis of safety performance risk and ensure effective visibility to mitigation efforts
  • Lead efforts for continuous analysis monitoring of ASAP, FOQA, and Fatigue data to identify trends, safety concerns, and effectiveness of procedural controls
  • Facilitate ASAP Event Review Committees, FOQA Monitoring Team (FMT) meetings, and Fatigue Risk Management meetings
  • Tracks program metrics and milestones, such as MOU renewals, newsletter publication, Safety Review Board (SRB) updates, initial and recurrent training, and annual reviews.
  • Lead the coordination and execution of high severity Safety Investigations across Frontier Airlines
  • Ensure collaboration with key partners such as Flight Standards and Training on FOQA trends, recommendations, and actions
  • Promote SMS by facilitating the development of tools and techniques that strengthen safety assurance and safety risk management
  • Gather information on real-time operational and human factors challenges faced by line flight crewmembers from regular jump seat observation.
  • Act as the point person for data driven project development and management
  • Cookordination across divisional lines to project manage both labor groups and divisional leaders to ensure commitments are delivered on time.
  • POC for ASIAS
  • Implement and maintain reporting software as needed

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of work experience at a Part 121 air carrier, three (3) of which should be in a safety specialty or an operational group covered by ASAP
  • Project management experience required
  • 1-3 years of experience leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation, aviation safety, or aviation management or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Previous experience working with ASAP or an equivalent safety reporting system is preferred
  • Operational experience as a pilot and/or FOQA is preferred
  • Operational experience as an aircraft mechanic, flight attendant or dispatcher helpful
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems, minimum equipment lists, aircraft dispatch procedures, and Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Working knowledge of various SMS Reporting Databases
  • Working knowledge of the Teledyne AirFase and CEFA animation software is preferred
  • Proven experience conducting safety investigations and analysis that leads to safety improvements
  • Knowledge of Safety Management System requirements, risk management, safety assurance, safety reporting, and safety promotion
  • Understanding of Crew Resource Management principles and aviation human factors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Excellent writing skills, including manual writing, report writing, and correspondence with government agencies
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and instructional skills
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis and audits
