About the role

The Senior Manager of Innovation, Systems and Data (ISD) is a pivotal leadership role driving the execution and evolution of our firm’s technology and data strategy. Reporting to the Director of ISD, this position leads a high-performing team while overseeing systems, integrations, and data initiatives that power firmwide operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operational leadership for the ISD department, executing against strategy and priorities established by the Director of ISD.
  • Directly manage and supervise a team of technical professionals responsible for systems administration, data analytics, development, and technical project management.
  • Oversee team workload allocation, performance management, coaching, and professional development.
  • Participate in the hiring process for new team members and contribute to staffing and organizational planning.
  • Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented team culture that promotes accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the ISD project portfolio, ensuring projects are effectively planned, prioritized, and executed in alignment with departmental and firm priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Director to prioritize work across the department and ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Monitor project progress, timelines, and risks while ensuring successful delivery of system implementations, integrations, and enhancements.
  • Implement and maintain governance processes defined in partnership with the Director of ISD for technology initiatives, system configuration, and data management practices.
  • Provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of enterprise solutions, integrations, and data infrastructure.
  • Advise on architectural decisions, system design, and integration strategies across the firm’s technology ecosystem.
  • Advise on system architecture decisions related to data modeling, APIs, automation, and enterprise integrations.
  • Maintain familiarity with the firm’s technology stack in order to provide technical guidance and support when needed.
  • Lead initiatives that improve operational efficiency through automation, process optimization, and improved system utilization.
  • Support the development of firmwide reporting and data analytics solutions using tools such as Power BI and enterprise data platforms.
  • Promote data quality, data governance practices, and the expansion of data-driven decision making across the firm.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows through system enhancements and automation solutions.
  • Partner with professional departments across the firm to understand operational needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Represent the ISD department in cross-functional initiatives related to execution, delivery, and operational coordination.
  • Communicate project updates, system improvements, and technical initiatives to stakeholders and leadership as appropriate.
  • Support evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies, including automation and generative AI solutions.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in information systems management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical teams and overseeing complex technology initiatives.
  • Experience working with enterprise systems and integrations in a professional services environment (law firm experience strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business context and translate business requirements into effective technical and operational solutions.
  • Strong business process engineering and process improvement skills, with the ability to analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and design technology-enabled solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to gather, clarify, and refine requirements while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and as part of a team.
