Senior Manager of Financial Reporting – Insurance

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Oversee accounting activities related to insurance operations, including reserves, reinsurance transactions, and catastrophe-related accounting.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal control frameworks, including SOX compliance, while supporting internal and external audit requirements.
  • Research and provide guidance on complex accounting matters and technical accounting issues in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to support business growth and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with finance, actuarial, operations, and executive leadership teams to align accounting processes with broader business objectives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
  • Sure operational accounting activities support accurate, reliable, and transparent financial reporting.
  • Promote best practices and governance standards across the accounting organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, technical accounting, or corporate accounting leadership.
  • Prior experience within the Property & Casualty insurance industry or another highly regulated financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing accounting professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, insurance accounting principles, and internal control frameworks.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex transactions and apply sound accounting judgment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience driving process improvement initiatives and managing change within a growing organization.
