Senior Manager of Design Engineering
Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Design Engineering will lead the site's engineering organization, providing technical leadership and oversight for engineering programs that support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This individual will manage engineering personnel, drive continuous improvement initiatives, support regulatory compliance efforts, and serve as a key member of the station leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the engineering function to support plant operational, regulatory, and business objectives.
Provide technical leadership and oversight for engineering programs, plant modifications, and long-term asset improvement initiatives.
Manage engineering personnel, including performance evaluations, development planning, staffing, and resource allocation.
Support business planning, budgeting, and performance improvement activities related to site engineering.
Drive engineering excellence, equipment reliability, operational performance, and regulatory compliance.
Partner with plant leadership, corporate engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to execute strategic objectives.
Provide leadership for short- and long-term engineering programs impacting station operations.
Support fleet-wide engineering initiatives, process improvements, and standardization efforts.
Act as a senior technical resource during outages, emergent issues, and operational challenges.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, or related discipline) or equivalent qualifying experience.
10+ years of engineering experience, including power generation experience.
Prior supervisory or management experience leading engineering teams.
Nuclear power plant experience and strong understanding of plant operations.
Experience supporting engineering programs, regulatory requirements, and operational excellence initiatives.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Active or inactive Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) License or SRO certification.
Professional Engineer (PE) License.
Advanced technical degree or MBA.
Experience leading engineering teams within a commercial nuclear generation environment.
