About the Role

The Manager of Financial Systems leads the firm through the modernization of its financial applications and processes, championing improvements and supporting the Finance function in delivering exceptional service to the firm’s Partnership and business leaders. Working closely with both IT and Finance teams, the Manager plays a key role in shaping and continuously enhancing the firm’s financial systems landscape. Responsibilities include driving business process improvements, adopting new data and compliance requirements, maintaining optimal system performance, and contributing to strategic planning and budgeting of fiscal projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the IT team, leading innovation, best practices, and operational excellence across the firm’s financial systems and processes.
  • Help the firm embrace change and adopt a continuous-improvement mindset to keep financial systems operating at optimal levels.
  • Provide strong technical expertise as a subject matter expert on finance technology, offering guidance, training, documentation, and support to finance teams and stakeholders.
  • Analyze current business processes, recommend improvements, and manage the implementation of new practices.
  • Maintain the firm’s financial systems with uncompromising data integrity to support accurate reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
  • Interact effectively with all levels of the organization, employing tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
  • Simplify complex technical issues for attorneys and other professionals through excellent oral and written communication.
  • Manage multiple concurrent objectives, prioritize tasks, and allocate time effectively.
  • Collaborate with Finance teams on continuous system and process optimization.
  • Display a strong commitment to project management principles.
  • Stay current with platform capabilities and best practices through training, networking, and peer events.
  • Promote and champion a culture of data-driven decision-making across the firm.
  • Demonstrate leadership and team-building skills, including developing and retaining talent.
  • Exhibit outstanding client service skills and responsiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or computer sciences.
  • Minimum of 5 years supporting financial systems, preferably in a law firm or other professional service organization.
  • Experience in both IT and Finance (if education is in Accounting/Finance, demonstrated IT experience is required, and vice versa).

Skills

  • Strong understanding of professional services financial processes, including time entry, billing, accounts payable/receivable, collections, general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, month/year-end closings, client/matter intake, and rate management.
  • Proficiency in 3E required.
  • Experience with Intapp Time, Intapp Integration Builder, and Intapp Integration Services (Boomi) strongly advantageous.
  • Adopts a continual improvement/development approach to optimizing systems and processes.
  • Excellent technical skills, including SQL, advanced Excel, and experience with data models and data integrations.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to simplify complex technical issues.
  • Thorough knowledge of law firm financial and accounting practices and procedures.
  • Initiative in professional development, seeking feedback, and pursuing new learning opportunities.

Pay

New York Salary Range: $180,000—$250,000 USD. The actual salary offered will be based on qualifications, relevant experience, education, certifications, and location.
