Senior Manager - Logistics and Transportation
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will lead the transportation and logistics operations team and have direct managerial and supervisory responsibilities.
Position Summary
The Sr. Logistics Manager is responsible for leading transportation and logistics operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective service delivery. This role oversees carrier management, dispatch operations, route execution, customer communication, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a carrier network of 250+ owner-operators, including recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and retention.
Oversee a dispatch and scheduling team responsible for daily assignment of owner-operators across 190+ routes during peak shipping periods.
Monitor driver activity and route execution to ensure service reliability, safety, and compliance with operational standards.
Develop and implement logistics strategies aligned with company goals to improve transportation performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Forecast logistics demand and plan service capacity to support business needs during standard and peak operating periods.
Drive adoption of technology and automation solutions that enhance operational visibility, efficiency, and decision-making.
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing logistics team by setting clear goals, coaching employees, and fostering accountability and continuous learning.
Partner cross-functionally with shipping, replenishment, customer service, and sales teams to improve service levels and resolve operational challenges.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to simplify processes, solve problems, and implement new procedures that improve performance.
Ensure logistics procedures are consistently followed in accordance with company policies, standards, and operational requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations, including people leadership.
Strong analytical skills with experience using data and performance metrics to improve fleet utilization and operational efficiency.
Proven ability in strategic planning, route optimization, cost control, and continuous improvement.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Adaptable, self-motivated, and willing to take on new responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
Demonstrated success managing large-scale fleet or transportation operations, including multi-site environments or mixed-asset fleets.
