Job Summary

KPMG is seeking a Manager, Ignition - Tax Data Engineer to lead cross-functional teams in designing, developing, and deploying tax data management solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data integrations, ETL/ELT, analysis, and technology implementations.

This role involves leading data engineering teams, architecting end-to-end data solutions, overseeing data integration projects, partnering with clients, and managing project economics and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct cross-functional teams in designing, developing, and deploying tax data management solutions
  • Architect and oversee end-to-end data solutions, including data extraction, transformation, and analysis across complex client systems
  • Oversee data integration and data management projects, including building integrations between client systems and KPMG's Digital Gateway
  • Partner with client stakeholders to define tax data requirements, formulate data strategies, and drive process improvement initiatives
  • Own overall project economics, timelines, and deliverables; manage engagement risk, resource allocation, and cross-functional coordination
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members; provide technical direction and troubleshooting support

Requirements

  • Minimum eight years of recent experience in data integrations, ETL/ELT, analysis, and technology implementations
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred; minimum of a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information systems, computer science, analytics, or a related field required
  • Licensed CPA, JD, LLM, PhD, MBA, or Master's in computer science from an accredited college/university; alternative approved credentials include: CISA, CISSP, CFE, CFF, CORPTAX Certified Professional, TCERTIMP, Alteryx Analytics Designer Core/Advanced, ACA, or Six Sigma Certification
  • Deep expertise in data integrations, engineering, lineage, and governance using cloud-based data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, Azure Synapse), technical scripting languages (SQL, Python, XML/JSON), and governance tools (Unity Catalog, Collibra, Atlan, Purview)
  • Advanced MS Office proficiency; advanced Data Integration experience; ERP/ledger system experience
  • Demonstrated project and team leadership experience, including managing multiple complex projects, overseeing project financials and deliverables, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven risk management capabilities, coupled with excellent executive-level communication and strategic business acumen
