About the Role

Baxter is hiring a Senior R&D Manager to join our Care and Connectivity Solutions business in Raleigh, NC. Baxter designs medical solutions that improve clinical communication, cooperation, patient safety, and well-being in acute care hospital settings. This role involves leading sustaining engineering projects within defined quality, timing, and budget parameters, directing a technical team across multiple product lines to enhance product value.

Responsibilities

  • Generate innovative solutions to complex problems using multiple technical principles and fields.
  • Provide strategic leadership by collaborating with cross-functional teams and project managers to drive project planning and execution excellence.
  • Take ownership of the team’s deliverables, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Drive functional excellence initiatives within the team.
  • Champion continuous improvement through process and product quality initiatives.
  • Own hardware build and manufacturing processes, maintaining relationships with manufacturing partners.
  • Manage hardware product sustaining for all supported product lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 10 years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 5+ years of related experience.
  • Experience building teams with a focus on high-quality product engineering.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in building for manufacturing complex embedded systems (medical industry experience a plus).
  • Experience supporting electronics manufacturing and hardware validation.
  • Experience with sustaining engineering activities, such as managing obsolescence, manufacturing support, and component sourcing.
  • Proven track record in leading analysis of product issues through troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities while maintaining high energy and team engagement.

Schedule

Baxter offers a flexible workplace policy requiring a set minimum number of onsite days weekly to support face-to-face interaction and teamwork. This policy adheres to local laws and may be adjusted based on business demands.

Pay

The estimated base salary for this position is $152,000–$209,000 annually. The range reflects anticipated salary variations based on market data and factors such as location, skills, expertise, and experience. Individual pay may exceed or fall below this range. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
