Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, CMC
The Role
The individual in this role will play a critical role in leading financial planning and analysis (FP&A) for Moderna’s Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) function. This role, in close partnership with the Head of CMC Finance, will also be responsible for partnering across the CMC FP&A and accounting organizations to drive consolidated reporting, analysis and forecast of CMC’s overall cost profile (~$1 billion).
This role is a key partner to Corporate FP&A, CMC Accounting and CMC FP&A - ensuring accurate forecasts, clear performance reporting, and strong governance of CMC’s FP&A data hierarchy. The role has high visibility and is expected to deliver decision-ready insights, improve planning/reporting processes, and ensure tight coordination between planning and closing.
Here's What You’ll Do
- Manage the CMC FP&A planning cycles and variance analysis.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Corporate FP&A on CMC results, forecast updates, and key business drivers.
- Create planning calendars, align cross-functional inputs, and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
- Create CMC Admin cost forecasts and model the allocation of overhead and material costs submitted by other CMC FP&A partners.
- Deliver performance insights and executive-ready reporting materials highlighting drivers, risks, and opportunities.
- Own and maintain the CMC long-range plan model in partnership with the broader CMC FP&A team, including ensuring consistent assumptions and supporting scenario analysis, and model enhancements.
- Build sensitivity analysis to support investment decisions and trade-offs across the CMC portfolio.
- Own and manage CMC’s FP&A data hierarchy, ensuring integrity and consistency across planning and reporting.
- Establish governance processes for hierarchy changes, mapping, and documentation, partnering with relevant system/process owners as needed.
- Ensure planning and reporting structures support efficient analysis and decision-making across CMC, including driving insights into therapeutic P&Ls.
- Coordinate between CMC FP&A and CMC Accounting, ensuring tight alignment between FP&A and Accounting, including monthly close readiness, accrual understanding, and variance root-cause analysis.
- Partner with Accounting to ensure consistent definitions, reconciliations, and reporting views that support both management reporting and financial controls.
- Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen transparency, accuracy, and cycle times.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement across planning templates, reporting packages, and analytics.
- Improve forecasting accuracy through enhanced driver tracking and disciplined assumptions management.
- Contribute to broader Finance transformation efforts by streamlining workflows and improving data quality and usability.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
- 5+ years of progressive experience in Finance within the life sciences industry, including financial planning & analysis, and/or financial operations roles.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Business or related areas.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry experience.
- Strong business acumen: proven ability to effectively scrutinize and challenge assumptions and interpret the strategy and priorities of the organization in financial terms.
- Excellent project management / leadership skills with demonstrated track record and ability to engage teams to work together towards common deadlines.
- Strong presentation skills to deliver succinctly and effectively deliver recommendations to senior leaders, frames complex concepts.
- Prior experience working in a matrixed environment; experience coordinating processes and delivering results through the collaboration of related teams.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions and different cultures.
- Exceptional attitude, diligence, and ability to motivate teams to do the same.
- Understanding of operational dynamics and the external environment.

Pay & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $130,800.00 - $209,400.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
