Senior Manager, Engineering
About the role
We are seeking a high-performing leader to provide engineering leadership for advancing the combustion business strategic plans. This includes providing innovative solutions for the HVAC/Water heater and boilers industries, ensuring new products are delivered on schedule and within budget to drive share growth, and sustaining existing products to meet market and customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the product management and business team to build and execute product strategies focusing on share growth and sustainable product.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team (Air flow solutions, Applications, electrical, mechanical) for the development and sustaining of combustion blower solutions.
- Oversee engineering resources and manage technical risks to ensure timely development of new products.
- Drive consistent alignment of engineering teams by setting performance goals aligned with the combustion business strategy.
- Balance and drive effective sustaining product support as well as new product introductions commitments utilizing the local and global engineering teams.
- Create the right engineering structure to support long-term combustion strategies.
- Collaborate with the global Motor and Drives team to identify solutions and leverage existing and new motor technologies for inclusion in our combustion product roadmaps.
- Continue to drive technological leadership in key combustion markets by investigating new combustion technologies, monitoring product portfolios of direct competitors, tracking major technical advances from relevant conferences like AHR and AHRI, and following developments of government regulations.
- Conduct periodic reviews with product development/sustaining engineering teams on status and provide support as required to drive on-time execution.
- Provide guidance on strategic decisions related to intellectual property.
- Participate in internal patent reviews and monitor main competitor's activities.
- Energize the team by fostering an environment that rewards creativity, thinking out of the box, with emphasis on execution and high standards; all with a sense of urgency.
- Foster an environment for continuous improvement and pursuit of excellence in the combustion industry.
- Attract and develop high-potential talent to build a deep technical bench with a balance on technical competence and leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of professional experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside the organization.
- Experience working with HVAC Furnaces, Water heating, Hearth or Electric motor Industry.
- Experience with Air flow blower solutions for combustion products and applications like High efficiency Gas furnace, High efficiency water heater with power vent technologies, Power burner boilers, Hearth applications exhaust and convection blowers the circulated heated air.
- Good understanding of electric motors and drives technology.
- Strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience understanding the practical aspects of product development from concept identification to high-volume production in a consumer/commercial industry.
