About the role

The National Hockey League (NHL®), founded in 1917, is the premier professional ice hockey league in the world and one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada. With over 1,500 employees across the U.S. and Canada, the NHL is a global sports and entertainment organization committed to building healthy and vibrant communities through hockey. We are seeking a dynamic and impactful Senior Manager, Digital Data Solutions to own how digital data moves through our systems—from source (web, app, game platforms, vendor/partner integrations) to the pipelines, storage, and APIs that make it usable across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture and delivery of digital data integrations—connecting web, app, game platforms, and third-party vendor feeds into our core data infrastructure.
  • Own our Adobe Experience Platform / Adobe Analytics implementation strategy—data collection, schemas, and integration with downstream systems.
  • Translate requirements from analytics, product, and business stakeholders into concrete data solutions (pipelines, APIs, schemas, integration specs).
  • Define and enforce data integration standards across digital properties, including third-party/vendor-built platforms, to ensure consistency and data quality.
  • Manage the technical relationship with external vendors/partners building on our platforms—reviewing their data architecture, access requests, and integration approach.
  • Partner with security and platform engineering on data access, connectivity, and hosting decisions for new digital integrations.
  • Help with the data strategy behind ad monetization—ensuring ad platforms have the data (audience, engagement, inventory signals) needed to maximize yield, and that ad data flows back cleanly into our reporting and analytics.
  • Design and own identity resolution strategy—stitching fan identity across web, app, game, and club properties into a single addressable profile, while respecting privacy and consent requirements.
  • Support clubs directly with their data needs—building the data feeds, dashboards, or integration points that let clubs access and use their own fan/engagement data, and acting as the technical point of contact for club data requests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues, working across engineering and business teams to unblock delivery.
  • Document data flows, schemas, and integration patterns so other teams can build against them confidently.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or technical data solutions roles, with at least 2–3 years managing people/projects.
  • Hands-on experience with the Adobe Experience Platform stack (Adobe Analytics, AEP, Real-Time CDP, or similar) at an implementation/architecture level.
  • Strong experience designing and building data pipelines (batch and/or streaming) and integrations with third-party systems.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS preferred—S3, Glue, Redshift/Snowflake, Lambda, or similar).
  • Experience with identity resolution and identity graph concepts—deterministic/probabilistic matching, cross-device and cross-platform stitching, consent management.
  • Experience with ad tech data flows—ad servers, audience/inventory data, and how monetization strategy depends on underlying data quality and structure.
  • Strong SQL and experience with schema design, data modeling, and API design for data access.
  • Experience managing vendor or partner technical relationships, including reviewing external teams' proposed architecture and access requirements.
  • Working knowledge of data security and access control practices (IAM, VPC/network design basics, PII handling).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with sports, media, or consumer digital platforms.
  • Direct experience building or supporting club/team/franchise-facing data products in a league or multi-entity sports environment.
  • Familiarity with CDPs, identity resolution, or fan/customer data unification at scale.
  • Experience standing up new vendor integrations from scratch, including initial hosting/access model decisions (e.g., vendor-managed vs. internally managed environments).
  • Background in ad monetization or programmatic ad data strategy.

Skills

  • Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into a concrete technical plan, and to push back when a request doesn't fit the platform's constraints.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills—comfortable explaining technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa, including club-side technical contacts.
