About the role

The Visa Post Purchase Platform manages all network-level disputes and chargebacks and serves as the foundation for creating innovative solutions that drive exceptional value for clients. This platform is modular, secure, robust, and resilient. Our data scientists have access to a treasure trove of structured and unstructured data, and we believe AI technologies have the potential to radically transform the payment and post-purchase landscape. We have launched multiple AI initiatives to enable this next era.

We are looking for a versatile, curious, and energetic Senior Manager Data Scientist to join our team. You will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing products that reach a global customer base. You will face big challenges, question the status quo, and help shape the future of data products at Visa. The role focuses on defining, executing, and delivering product and technical features at scale while promoting cross-functional collaboration and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Implements, monitors, and maintains a suite of production machine learning, NLP models, and Gen AI products that adhere to data science and machine learning standards.
  • Develops strategies and tools to drive efficiencies across data extraction, frequent retuning of models, and ensure data quality and completeness using data wrangling, LLMs, and artificial intelligence.
  • Ensures adherence to Visa’s model review management processes, data management principles, governance, and tools to maintain data quality across products.
  • Advises on technical specifications during discussions with collaborators (e.g., model review management team, software development team, product team, clients) to identify and clarify sophisticated technical or business requirements and dependencies.
  • Identifies complex trends across relevant data sources and uses insights to plan platform-wide future solution updates.
  • Owns and maintains dashboards that use SQL to collect data from an internal data warehouse and create visualizations to make complex analyses accessible to a broad audience.
  • Finds opportunities to create new data products out of analyses.
  • Provides ad-hoc data analysis support and conducts data studies for Visa account management, business development, and other internal teams.
  • Leads and influences multiple teams, matching them with appropriate technology and business problems while building a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Transforms digital offerings by leveraging AI to enhance current products and develop new ones targeting banking, fintech, and integration partners.

Requirements

  • U.S. Applicants Only.
  • Visa requires at least 3 days in-office per week; expectations will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
  • This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree, or 7 or more years with an Advanced Degree, or 3 or more years with a PhD.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of analytical experience in applying solutions to business problems in relevant fields such as analytics, business consulting, or other data-driven functions.
  • Four (4) years of experience designing, building, or fine-tuning ML/AI models around fraud detection (e.g., XGBoost, NLP models, Neural Network models).
  • Four (4) years of experience solving data problems using data technologies (e.g., SQL, Hadoop, Hive, NoSQL).
  • Expert in Python.
  • One (1) year of experience using LLMs for feature extraction from textual data.
  • One (1) year of experience building dashboards with Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience building agentic workflows.
  • Prior experience in payments or a background in building high-volume transaction and data processing systems is preferred.

Pay

The estimated salary range for this position is $162,500.00 to $260,400.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
