Senior Manager, Commodity Management (Remote)

About the role

Seeking a dynamic individual and effective leader to work within a highly matrixed group in leading the overall Distributed Products (DP) Commodity team within the RTX Supply Chain Management organization. This role will manage all core commodity management activities for distributed products for RTX, reporting directly to the Associate Director Commodity Management for Distributed Products. The Senior Commodity Manager will demonstrate an advanced understanding of the aerospace business and play a key role in interfacing with RTX internal and external customers to lead, coordinate, and implement strategic activities. This leader represents and works directly with upper management, networking with program management, module centers, spares management, executive management, and the external supply base.

Responsibilities

• Manage the distributed products commodity for assigned business units.
• Act as point of escalation for any supplier or internal issues.
• Lead and manage the assigned Supply Chain team.
• Conduct key supplier contract and pricing negotiations.
• Bring contracts and sourcing projects through the gated Passport standard work process.
• Drive cost reduction projects through analysis of spend data, market conditions, program development, should-cost estimation, and volume aggregation.
• Identify savings opportunities and lead projects with cross-functional team support.
• Lead discussions and negotiations with suppliers regarding cost savings, performance improvements, and Long-Term Agreements (LTAs).
• Create and socialize the annual Strategic Sourcing Review Board (SSRB) strategy for your commodity with peers and senior management.
• Work closely with Contract Managers to analyze and strengthen existing contract terms.
• Ensure coordination and alignment with overall objectives and strategies for the same commodities.
• Sweep spot buys onto long-term agreements.
• Optimize market share for dual-source products.
• Act as Strategic Business Unit focal for various KPI reviews.
• Identify and deliver savings opportunities (negotiations, transitions, value engineering projects, etc.).
• Ensure accurate reporting of all savings and price increases.
• Coordinate sourcing decisions on new programs with key stakeholders, including Supply Chain Directors, Design Engineers, Program Directors, and Product Introduction Management.
• Monitor current supplier market conditions, technology roadmaps, and identify supply/demand challenges.
• Support the development and implementation of strategic commodity plans.
• Identify opportunities for developing partnerships with strategic suppliers and lead projects to improve efficiencies within the supply base.

Requirements

• Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
• 7+ years of experience in Operations, Supply Chain, Contracts Management, Business Development, or other business-related fields.
• Ability to travel up to 20%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace product knowledge (processes, manufacturing techniques, quality requirements).
• Prior team leadership experience or experience working in a highly matrixed organization.
• Supply Chain systems experience with SAP, and analytical experience.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and databases.
• Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
• Project management experience.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Pay

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Schedule

This position is classified as remote. Employees in remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager may discuss a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.
