Senior Maintenance Technician - PVD (D1 Shift Days)

About the Role

GlobalFoundries is looking to hire Equipment Maintenance Technicians in the Litho/Photo module to sustain and run the fab floor with primary responsibility of resolving equipment and process issues. Technician positions are hourly shift positions working a compressed week of 12-hour shifts, including nights. GlobalFoundries is a 24/7 manufacturing facility providing technician support across all shifts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, control, and qualify 200 mm semiconductor equipment
• Perform basic preventive maintenance activities
• React to error messages of factory systems and/or equipment
• Process wafers using defined procedures
• Perform visual inspections (quality check)
• Recover from process and tool interruptions
• Identify and address potential areas for improvement and optimize tool availability, cycle time, utilization, and cost
• Complete all required reporting and documentation
• Understand and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements
• Actively participate in continuous improvement processes, learning, and skills development
• Work as a strong team member, able to collaborate well with a global team, and perform other duties as assigned
• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
• Perform other activities assigned by manager

Requirements

• High School Degree (or equivalent)
• Experience: Electrical or mechanical, one of the following:
  • 2-year technical degree and 4 years of relevant experience
  • 2 years of relevant military experience and 4 years of relevant experience
  • 6 years of relevant experience (automotive repair, BOCES, HVAC, aviation, cable installation, computer routing, telecommunications, electrical work, etc.)
• Minimal travel requirements
• English language fluency (written & verbal)
• Basic reading and writing comprehension skills
• Basic computer navigation skills (e.g., Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook)
• Able to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required cleanroom clothing per semiconductor protocol/requirements
• Able to work in a standing position for an extended period of time (during a 12-hour shift)
• Able to lift equipment and tools when performing maintenance activities (above 50lbs requires a two-person lift)
• Flexible and willing to work any shift (3-4 days alternating weeks during day or night shift)

Preferred Skills

• Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and react to Out-of-Control conditions including defect troubleshooting
• Develop & enhance operating procedures
• Actively participate in continuous improvement projects, learning, and skills development
• Ability to read and comprehend schematics, blueprints, and electrical diagrams
• Experience utilizing basic hand tools and quality workmanship principles
• Experience with troubleshooting and structured problem-solving techniques
• Basic understanding of the principles of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology, military equivalent, trade equivalent, or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of direct experience working in semiconductor manufacturing
• Project management skills, including the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter and navigate ambiguity
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong planning & organizational skills

Schedule

Alternating week shift schedules (12-hour shifts):

• N1 (nights B): 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Week 1: Sunday to Tuesday + Saturday
  • Week 2: Sunday to Tuesday

Pay

Expected salary range: $48,200.00 - $83,200.00. The exact salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.
