Senior Maintenance Tech
About the role
Operate a combined-cycle cogeneration plant, air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, a process potable-water plant, and a wastewater-treatment plant in compliance with the New Jersey Clean Water Act. Troubleshoot plant equipment and systems to meet Key Performance Measures, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety and regulatory requirements, and divisional goals.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor utilities equipment (boilers, chillers, compressors, cooling towers) both in the field and from the DCS; troubleshoot process and equipment problems, make adjustments, optimize parameters, perform sampling and testing.
- Assist day-shift technicians with coordinating and prioritizing maintenance needs alongside production demands; write permits for preventive-maintenance tasks; perform general housekeeping and minor repairs (painting, cleaning, forklift operation).
- Record, track, maintain, and analyze process data to ensure safe operation within permit limits; interpret data and take corrective action when parameters drift.
- Pursue continuous-improvement opportunities aligned with DICI mindset and behaviors.
- Champion Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) culture: wear proper PPE, write and execute work permits and energy-control procedures, maintain high safety standards, and ensure area compliance with safety directives.
- Understand process-safety standards and risks; document safety/environmental incidents and assist management with notifications; participate in HAZOP and pre-startup reviews.
- Complete all required formal and computer-based training (safety, quality improvement, problem-solving, MSDS, etc.).
- Support Technical Staff in developing and delivering training.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- High-school diploma required.
- New Jersey Blue Seal Engineer’s license and the appropriate water-treatment and wastewater-treatment licenses when required.
- Minimum of 1–4 years of experience in power and steam generation or equivalent.
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift (7 AM–7 PM and 7 PM–7 AM), including weekends, overtime (coverage and standby), and holidays.
- Willingness to cross-train in primary craft.
- Proficiency in math, oral/written communication, interpersonal skills, time management, problem-solving, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of personal/process-control computers, cGMP, ISO, environmental, regulatory, and safety compliance.
- Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate multiple resources without direct supervision.
- Capability to perform essential job functions, including maintenance of process equipment in shop-floor situations.
Pay
The salary or hourly wage reflects the pay range the employer expects to pay the successful candidate. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and primary work location.
