About the role
The Optical Communications segment of Corning Incorporated is seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to support and enhance the reliability of industrial machinery and facility systems across our operations. This role is crucial for ensuring continuous, efficient operations in a 24/7 production environment by applying advanced technical expertise to maintain and improve the performance of critical assets.
Responsibilities
- Drive the continued development and implementation of maintenance strategies that align with the overall business objectives of Corning Incorporated, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability.
- Take ownership of uptime performance enhancements for all assets, ensuring sustained reliability and improved operational functionality.
- Review and analyze the structure of maintenance, repair, and operations for facilities, production equipment, and grounds, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations while driving improvements in daily efficiencies.
- Utilize and manage CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software, specifically Maximo, adhering to corporate standards while implementing site-specific improvements.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of machinery, facilities, and buildings to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure optimal functionality and reliability.
- Develop and implement sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency programs to reduce environmental impacts while enhancing operational performance.
- Maintain and enhance corporate standard performance measures to optimize uptimes for all assets, including facilities and manufacturing systems:
- MTTR – Mean Time to Repair
- MTBF – Mean Time Between Failure
- PM Compliance – Preventive Maintenance adherence
- Ratio of Planned Work vs Reactive Work
- Asset Uptime
- Setting up and tracking asset health through various historians
Requirements
- Associates OR Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in production maintenance engineering or a related field, with a proven track record of successful asset reliability improvement
- Root Cause / Data Analysis experience investigating asset failures to identify the cause and prevent reoccurrences while mitigating and managing risks to production assets.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations with ability to develop and optimize preventative maintenance and condition-based maintenance plans to avoid unexpected downtime.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in maintenance management software and tools, CMMS Maximo preferred.
- Strong understanding of building automation systems and energy management
- Trane Tracer
- BACnet/IP – Modbus
- Strong understanding of Predictive & Condition based maintenance
- Conceptual Hardware applications
- Cost saving / avoidance discipline
Qualifications
- Familiarity with CAD software, PLC programming, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Visionary (understands the big picture and can project this view)
- Experience with the OSI PI (historian) interface
Skills
