Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer - Automation

About the Role

The Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer provides automation support for multiple clients and ongoing projects, including the development, testing, and implementation of new automation rules, programs, and processes. This role requires the ability to work in a multi-LPAR client environment and assist team members with technical questions and problem resolution.

Key areas of focus include functional knowledge of z/OS Opsmvs, z/SA Automation (or both), and detailed expertise in REXX programming and NetView.

Responsibilities

• Lead self and others, serving as a subject-matter expert (SME) or specialist in automation.
• Align work with Ensono’s overall strategy and provide thought leadership within the Automation team.
• Configure and support System State Manager, Opslog archive process, MSF, and EPI.
• Participate in client meetings and new business discussions with strong communication skills.
• Collaborate in a team environment with automation teams and other stakeholders.
• Review and analyze existing automated processes, improving them to meet standards as needed.
• Enhance team performance through mentoring and guidance.
• Design automated monitoring techniques for problem identification and prevention.
• Provide and document problem analysis, resolution, and prevention, including designing procedures and best practices.
• Own complex assignments and handle zSA architecture, automation policy, and message automation (especially EMMzSA commands).
• Manage zSA-defined resources, modify goals, and handle installation and upgrades.

Requirements

• Ten years of hands-on industry experience with z/OS, Opsmvs, and/or z/SA.
• Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to perform the skill set of an Automation Mainframe Systems Programmer.
• Experience performing and leading complex automation changes without failure.
• Ability to mentor and demonstrate leadership qualities.

Pay

A good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this role is $85,000 to $148,000 annually based on a full-time schedule. Placement in the range may vary based on skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs.
