Senior Mainframe Operations
About the role
The Senior Mainframe Operations role provides advanced operational support, technical guidance, and mentorship to Junior Resources. Senior Resources are responsible for stability, incident leadership, and operational excellence within the mainframe environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead monitoring and control of mainframe production environments.
- Perform advanced operational tasks, including complex job recovery, system coordination, and troubleshooting.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for incidents, outages, and operational exceptions.
- Guide, coach, and mentor Junior Mainframe Operations Resources during training and on the job activities.
- Cookordination with system programmers, application teams, and infrastructure teams during incidents and changes.
- Support change management, releases, maintenance windows, and disaster recovery activities.
- Review and improve runbooks, procedures, and operational documentation.
Requirements
- 4–5 years of experience supporting mainframe production operations.
- Proven ability to ensure system stability, availability, and compliance with operational and security standards.
- Demonstrated leadership during high-severity incidents, including coordination, escalation, and resolution.
- Strong focus on operational excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of support processes.
Qualifications
- Proven technical skills in IBM Z/OS architecture and related technologies.
- Experience with JCL testing and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of incident management practices and disaster recovery strategies.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior resources effectively.

Pay
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Schedule
Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty.
