About the Role

Fidelity Investments Workplace Investing (WI) organization is seeking an experienced Sr. Software Engineer to join the CVT team within Stock Plan Services (SPS). The selected candidate will provide critical systems and business support on a global team using a Mainframe & Distributed technology stack, with an end goal of high availability and client satisfaction. This position will play a critical role in delivering a top-shelf service experience for clients and internal partners while building and maintaining collaborative global relationships with technology and support organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for critical mainframe environments using COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, MQ-Series, SQL, and VSAM files.
  • Perform mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning, including reducing I/Os, CPU Time, MSUs, and MIPs using tools like Strobe, iStrobe, and Platinum Detector.
  • Navigate Oracle database environments for triage purposes.
  • Utilize File-AID for file format and comparison, Endeavor for version management, Intertest and Abend-AID for debugging and unit testing, and Control-M for job scheduling.
  • Debug and reproduce issues in lower pre-production environments.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Articulate and explain complex problems or solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Form trusted working relationships with business unit stakeholders through collaboration and effective communication.
  • Apply analytical and detail-oriented approaches to problem resolution, designing, and solutioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with mainframe platforms.
  • Experience with ETL, Informatica, Java, Python, or other distributed languages is preferred.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with monitoring systems such as CloudWatch, Datadog/Splunk, or the ELK stack.
  • Knowledge of financial services or equity compensation is a plus.
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and technologies to support day-to-day operations.

Schedule

Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
