Senior Mainframe Developer/Lead

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Developer with 10+ years of hands-on experience in IBM z/OS Mainframe technologies. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can independently manage deliverables, interact directly with client stakeholders, and drive development initiatives with minimal oversight. This role is onsite in Delaware, with an initial duration of 4 months and potential for extension, starting as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support secure, high-quality production code using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS.
• Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve complex application issues in production and non-production environments.
• Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to development teams.
• Identify opportunities to automate recurring issues and improve application stability and operational efficiency.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, estimate user stories, and document development activities in JIRA.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards, security policies, risk management controls, and development best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, architects, business analysts, and client stakeholders.
• Drive development activities independently with minimal supervision.
• Support large-scale enterprise applications and mission-critical systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with IBM-Z/OS Mainframe applications.
• Experience with Mainframe development suite: COBOL, JCL, CICS, MQ, VSAM, including both batch and real-time processes.
• Proficiency with CICS Main view, REXX, CLIST, FTP/NDM/File-Mover, CA-7, IBM Utilities, Intertest, File Aid, TSO/ISPF/SDSF, File Manager, Changeman, and SORT.
• Experience with debug tools like Xpediter.
• Strong database design and development skills in IMS DB, DB2, DB2 SQL, and Stored Procedures.
• Experience with IBM WebSphere MQ messaging solution.
• Exposure to distributed technologies: Java, Kafka, Rest Web Service, XML.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating Mainframe systems with distributed applications.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Prior experience in banking, financial services, insurance, or large enterprise organisations.
