Senior Machine Learning Engineer - 3D Sensor Simulation

About the role

The 3D Simulation group at Zoox is seeking 3D Machine Learning engineers to develop realistic simulations of sensor data, integrating GenAI/ML and advanced 3D graphics techniques.

Responsibilities

• Research and implement state-of-the-art 3D rendering techniques for sensor data
• Develop realism metrics and collaborate with V&V teams to validate improvements in sensor simulation fidelity
• Collaborate with Perception and Safety teams to enhance the realism of sensor simulation for high-fidelity synthetic data
• Optimize rendering and ML inference tooling for scalable generation of realistic data

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience in developing neural rendering techniques like Gaussian Splatting, NeRFs, or 3D reconstruction
• 5+ years of experience with Python and modern C++ in software development
• Expertise with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or Tensorflow
• Familiarity with 3D graphics algorithms, including 3D geometry and camera models
• Strong mathematical skills and understanding of 3D linear algebra and probabilistic techniques

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in computer science, mathematics, physics, or related field
• Experience with generative models for 3D content pipelines using applications like Houdini, Maya, or Blender
• Experience in 3D rendering for simulation, games, cloud computing, or VFX

Pay

$239,000 - $333,000 a year Base Salary Range
