As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects across the country, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals.

This role provides technical leadership and execution support for the mechanical, electrical, piping, and fire protection (MEPFP) disciplines for power sector projects. You will lead day-to-day development, coordination, and delivery of MEPFP systems across all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project requirements for safety, quality, performance, budget, and schedule. You will work closely with project teams, field leadership, design partners, OEMs, and trade partners to resolve complex system challenges, support constructability, and ensure successful installation, testing, and commissioning of major power plant systems.

Responsibilities

Primary Role Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and execution support for MEPFP disciplines on power sector projects.
  • Lead development, coordination, and delivery of MEPFP systems across all project phases, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, performance, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams, field leadership, design partners, OEMs, and trade partners to resolve complex system challenges and support constructability.
  • Contribute to estimating, system development, bid analysis, scheduling, quality control, and commissioning.
  • Ensure engineering decisions are practical, executable, and aligned with project and commercial objectives.

Leadership Role Responsibilities

  • Report to the Engineering Services Leadership Team.
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen the company’s technical capabilities within the power sector.
  • Build and develop a team of M/E engineers while establishing consistent approaches and reinforcing technical standards.
  • Lead the delivery of reliable outcomes and advance the company’s presence in power generation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Learn and actively participate in all aspects of the company’s safety and quality plans and culture.
  • Complete entry-level and routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
  • Develop budgetary M/E estimates using automated estimating systems.
  • Assist in reviewing mechanical and electrical options during preconstruction and complete systems analysis for select projects.
  • Develop mechanical and electrical scopes of work for bid coordination.
  • Assist in bid analysis and subcontractor selection.
  • Develop sequencing requirements for systems to meet schedule needs.
  • Identify potential quality issues in design documents and assist in developing constructability review reports.
  • Perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met.
  • Assist with the shop drawing/submittal process to comply with contract documents.
  • Support the commissioning process, including developing pre-functional checklists, functional testing procedures, and conducting functional testing.

Additional Core Responsibilities

  • Complete increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
  • Develop budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information.
  • Review mechanical and electrical options, complete systems analysis, recommend best systems, and provide value engineering suggestions.
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical scopes of work during the bid process.
  • Develop sequencing requirements and provide scheduling input for projects.
  • Review design documents to identify potential quality problems and help develop quality control programs.
  • Perform job inspections at various project stages to ensure specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Develop pre-functional checklists and functional testing procedures, and verify contractor performance during testing.
  • Review and approve shop drawings before submission to the design team.
  • Generate and issue the Commissioning Plan for approval and verify that deficiencies are corrected.
  • Submit commissioning documentation to owners.
  • Mentor less experienced co-workers.
  • Create M/E tools and innovative solutions to improve processes and work products.
  • Negotiate subcontracts with subcontractors.
  • Participate in interviews, presentations, and business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field (required). Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 10+ years of construction management experience, preferably in the power sector.
  • Proven track record managing major power generation projects.
  • Expertise in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) delivery model and risk management.
  • Established network of relationships with key industry stakeholders.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Skills

  • Advanced ability to conduct effective presentations.
  • Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in applying fundamentals of construction management means and methods.
  • Advanced proficiency in required construction technology.
  • Intermediate proficiency in scheduling software.
  • Advanced ability to apply Lean process and philosophy.
  • Advanced ability to manage budgets, maximize profitability, and build relationships.
  • Ability to prepare project budgets, GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price), or hard bids.
  • Deep understanding of power generation technologies.
  • Ability to execute successful EPC contracts.
  • Advanced understanding of natural gas and thermal power generation systems, including design, construction, and commissioning, specifically regarding electrical, mechanical, process piping, plumbing, and fire protection.
