About the role

The role involves developing and maintaining long-term mine plans that align with site strategy, supporting critical business decisions, and ensuring alignment across technical, environmental, and economic priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Life of Mine (LOM) plans, including production, infrastructure, and closure planning
  • Design optimized open pit mine phases and schedules
  • Integrate long-term planning with 5-year plans and budgeting cycles
  • Conduct trade-off and scenario analysis to inform strategic decisions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address technical, environmental, and economic challenges
  • Maintain reserve and resource estimates and support compliance reporting
  • Provide planning inputs to support asset management, infrastructure, and maintenance strategies
  • Communicate plans, designs, and recommendations to stakeholders for alignment and approval

Requirements

  • Degree in Mining Engineering with experience in open pit operations
  • Strong expertise in mine design, scheduling, and LOM planning
  • Experience with mining software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight) and cost modeling tools
  • Understanding of reserves/resource reporting and operational value drivers
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly
  • Strong organizational skills to manage priorities and deliver within timelines

Qualifications

While a degree in Mining Engineering is preferred, candidates with equivalent experience in open pit operations are also encouraged to apply.

Skills

Must have strong expertise in mine design, scheduling, and LOM planning. Experience with mining software and cost modeling tools is essential. Understanding of reserves/resource reporting and operational value drivers is crucial. Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams are also required.

Pay

The salary range offered for this role is USD $98,300- $140,277 + 20% STIP. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.

Schedule

The role is available in Denver, Colorado, with the possibility of remote work for highly qualified candidates near regional offices. The schedule is flexible but requires collaboration and interaction with teams across the global, regional, and site organization as well as across other service and operational areas of Newmont across multiple time zones.
