Senior Litigation Associate

About the role

Morrison Mahoney LLP is seeking a Senior Litigation Associate with 7-10 years of civil litigation experience to join its New Jersey litigation team. The firm offers a supportive environment where associates are trusted to take ownership of their cases and collaborate with experienced partners.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload from inception to resolution, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests while adhering to deadlines.
• Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, and trials, gaining valuable courtroom experience.
• Collaborate closely with clients, experts, and fellow attorneys to devise effective litigation strategies.
• Provide clients with updates and interim status reports on their cases.
• Conduct in-depth legal research, preparing memoranda to bolster case strategies, while working alongside partners and senior attorneys to ensure seamless case management.

Requirements

• A Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the New Jersey State Bar are essential prerequisites.
• At least seven (7) years of prior civil litigation experience, including both New Jersey state and federal court experience.
• Experience taking and defending depositions.
• Filing dispositive motions in Superior Court.
• Prior experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), including handling arbitrations and mediations.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive status reports for insurers.
• Strong advocacy skills, including the ability to draft and argue dispositive motions, perform legal research, and respond to discovery requests.
• Attention to detail and effective communication are key attributes for success in this role, particularly in taking and defending fact witness and expert depositions.
