Key Responsibilities
- Manage employment and commercial litigation matters from initial case assessment through resolution, including settlement, arbitration, and trial.
- Represent employers in a variety of workplace disputes involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, leave and accommodation issues, and wage and hour claims.
- Support the defense of complex representative, class, and collective actions arising under California and federal employment laws.
- Prepare and argue substantive motions, including dispositive motions, motions to compel arbitration, discovery-related motions, and class certification briefing.
- Conduct all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery requests and coordinating document production.
- Take and defend depositions involving parties, fact witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives.
- Appear at court hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and arbitrations.
- Perform legal research and prepare memoranda, motion papers, and client-facing analyses.
- Advise employer clients on day-to-day employment law issues, including workplace policies, discipline, accommodations, compliance matters, and separation decisions.
- Assist with internal workplace investigations involving employee complaints and allegations of misconduct.
- Partner closely with clients to develop effective litigation and risk-management strategies.
- Participate in all phases of trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, motions in limine, jury instructions, and pretrial briefing.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Active California Bar membership in good standing.
- Approximately 4+ years of litigation experience, with a substantial focus on employment law matters.
- Experience handling cases in both California state and federal courts.
- Strong background in employer-side employment litigation.
- Demonstrated experience managing depositions, discovery, motion practice, and client communications.
- Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and research skills.
- Familiarity with Westlaw and standard legal technology platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
- Excellent client-service, communication, negotiation, and advocacy abilities.
- Proven ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative legal team.
