Senior Linux System Engineer

Responsibilities

• Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.
• Develop Enterprise Technical Procedures (ETPs) with the directions to apply patches, upgrades and security configurations and/or updates to the baseline system in the EOF for testing IAW with the STIGs.
• Ensure that already-provisioned Linux systems are kept in compliance with baseline requirements & ever-changing enterprise policy (e.g., equivalent to Group Policy in the Windows realm for ongoing compliance updates).
• Maintain a centralized alerting system.
• Develop an operating system lifecycle plan with integration of DoW STIGs and other recommended security standards.

Requirements

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years’ experience required. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
• Certification: Current DoW IAT level III.
• Technical Skills: VMWare management/administration experience. Thorough experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu or a derivative. Knowledge of Windows and Linux Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and current DISA’s hardening protocol. Experienced in systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, and engineering.

Pay

The likely salary range for this position is $88,130 - $117,875. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
