We’re a team of builders, adventurers, and risk takers using technology to help people confidently explore the outdoors. Driven by our mission to awaken the adventurer inside everyone, we build products that optimize every outdoor experience and inspire confidence to get out and go further. We’re a high-growth tech company where the pace is fast, the work takes grit, and ambiguity is part of the job. As the world changes, we adapt—continuously evolving how we build, prioritize, and deliver.

About the role

We’re seeking a Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager who will contribute to meaningful, real-world outcomes that have a lasting impact for customers and the business. In this role, you'll focus on driving subscription growth for onX Hunt—Day 7 (D7) and Day 30 (D30) conversion, free-to-paid movement, and reactivation of lapsed users—as part of the Growth & Lifecycle Marketing team. You'll take ownership of your work, collaborate closely with partners across the organization, and help move initiatives forward in an environment where priorities evolve, learning is celebrated, and you're encouraged to keep stretching your skills. This role will report to the Manager of Growth and Lifecycle Marketing.

The best lifecycle marketers at onX don’t wait for insights to be handed to them: they live in the data, form sharp hypotheses about user behavior, test them quickly and cleanly, document what they learn, and compound those learnings into the next experiment. If you get energy from turning user behavior into revenue—and from building AI-powered systems that let one marketer operate like five—this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Own the lifecycle conversion funnel for onX Hunt—D7 and D30 conversion, free-to-paid upgrade, and lapsed-user reactivation—and be accountable for moving those numbers.
  • Self-serve insights in Amplitude, synthesize learnings into clear, testable hypotheses, and apply propensity models and behavioral segmentation to reach the right user, at the right time, with the right message.
  • Run lifecycle as a compounding experimentation program: every test has a hypothesis, a clean measurement design (A/B, holdout, or validation test), and a documented outcome that feeds the next iteration—maintained at a high-velocity cadence across email, push, and in-app messaging in Braze.
  • Scale personalized messaging that translates features into value and outcomes—getting users to their "aha moment" faster so they convert with confidence—and partner with product, engineering, and BI to define the events and attributes that unlock personalization in Braze.
  • Self-serve your own experiment analysis and results readouts, communicating outcomes—including honest caveats and null results—to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, brand and growth marketing, and the Hunt vertical creative team to align lifecycle programs with revenue goals, campaign windows, and creative standards; build creative briefs and lightweight assets in Figma.
  • Use AI (Claude and similar tools) to build repeatable skills, agents, and workflows that automate campaign production and analysis—scaling personalization well beyond what manual effort allows.
  • Look for opportunities to embed AI as a repeatable co-pilot in daily workflows by integrating experimentation into real work, and continuously refining its use with sound judgment and validation.
  • Mentor junior lifecycle marketers on experimentation rigor and AI-enabled workflows, and champion shared standards for how the team runs and documents tests.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of lifecycle, CRM, retention, or growth marketing experience is required, with a background in consumer subscription or mobile app businesses.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or equivalent experience.
  • A strong experimentation track record: you've designed, run, analyzed, and documented A/B tests that produced measurable conversion or retention gains—and you can talk through your wins, your nulls, and what you learned from each.
  • A strong understanding of user behavior, with a demonstrated ability to generate insights in Amplitude (or similar product analytics tools) and synthesize them into hypotheses.
  • Working knowledge of propensity models and predictive targeting.
  • Proficiency with Braze (or a comparable CRM platform), Amplitude, Figma, and Claude or similar AI tools—and demonstrated proficiency using AI to develop new skills and workflows that scale your impact.
  • The ability to self-serve in analytics and experimentation results—you don't wait on an analyst to know how your programs are performing.
  • A strong curiosity for exploring new technologies, including AI.
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.
  • Ability to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp.

Nice to have

  • Genuine familiarity with hunting culture, or a personal passion for hunting and the outdoors—you understand the seasons, the preparation, and why an offline map matters at 6 a.m. in a dead zone.
  • Experience with Liquid templating (or similar) for dynamic personalization in Braze.
  • Experience partnering with data science teams to deploy propensity or churn models in production campaigns.
  • Experience optimizing trial-based subscription funnels and paywalls.

Work environment

onX is a distributed company with more than 400 employees across the country. We come together regularly to work in person and stay connected through regional basecamps and a culture that balances individual ownership with deep collaboration. While we move quickly, we’re not a scrappy start-up. We operate with clear goals, structure, and frameworks that guide how we prioritize and execute. Priorities matter, and while they may shift, data shapes how we evolve as our business, products, and the world around us change.

Clear priorities and structure don’t limit ownership—they make it possible. You’ll have the autonomy to define your work and make meaningful decisions within clear strategic boundaries. You’ll partner closely with others to solve complex problems and build solutions that scale across teams and platforms. Along the way, you’ll be supported with feedback, tools, and opportunities to grow your craft as you take on new challenges.

Locations

onX has created a thriving distributed workforce designed to foster connection, collaboration, and shared experience across several US locations. We have two HQ locations in Bozeman and Missoula, MT, and established virtual workforce Basecamps in Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Kalispell, MT; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.

Pay

For this position, applicants can expect to make between $113,000 and $142,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education.

Benefits

  • Competitive salaries, annual bonuses, equity, and opportunities for growth.
  • Comprehensive health benefits, including a no-monthly-cost medical plan.
  • Paid parental leave of 13 weeks for birthing parents and 5 weeks for non-birthing parents.
  • 401k matching at 100% for the first 3% you save and 50% from 3-5%.
  • Company-wide outdoor adventures and amazing outdoor industry perks.
  • Annual “Get Out, Get Active” funds to fuel your active lifestyle.
  • Flexible time away package that includes PTO, STO, VTO, and paid holidays.
