This role can be based in one of our Mercer east coast office locations and is hybrid, requiring at least three days a week in the office.

About the role

This position provides expertise and support in evaluating, shaping, and designing absence, paid time off, disability, and life programs. You will work in a team environment, contributing to overall client health and productivity strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex client engagements, including managing overall service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, business placement, benchmarking, and other studies.
  • Assist in the development of sophisticated benefits design and renewal strategies while driving the development of tools and solutions to address complex client issues.
  • Determine the full scope of services provided to the client and set roles/responsibilities within the client team.
  • Be accountable for revenue/profitability for client accounts and projects.
  • Generate sales by expanding revenues from existing clients and by leading prospecting efforts with new clients.
  • Establish effective carrier/vendor relationships to serve clients in benefits procurement and administration (eligibility, claims, billing, plan implementation, contracts, plan changes, and necessary amendments).
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to direct reports and project team members.
  • Delegate effectively to provide developmental opportunities to team members.

Requirements

  • BA or BS.
  • Minimum 8 years of Life, Absence, and Disability Insurance experience.
  • Experience managing a team and people management.
  • Experience with building and executing strategy within the client team.
  • Strong client-facing skills within a consulting environment.
  • Strong communication skills – ability to deliver positive and negative messages, along with project transparency.
  • State Life/Health license.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of absence management plan provisions, underwriting, contracts, and/or risk management.

Pay

The applicable base salary range for this role is $115,200 to $230,400. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. This position may also be eligible for performance-based incentives.
