Senior (Level III) DevOps/Platform Engineer

Location: Downtown Houston, TX (onsite 5 days/week at 1100 Louisiana Street, Houston, TX 77002). Duration: 12 months with potential extension or conversion.

About the role

Client is seeking a hands-on Senior Level III DevOps/Platform Engineer who can design, implement, and explain end-to-end AWS infrastructure and automation. This is a technical engineering role requiring deep expertise in AWS, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Linux.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or CloudFormation across multi-account AWS environments.
• Build, optimize, and automate CI/CD pipelines with a strong shift-left approach.
• Deploy and manage AWS services such as EKS, S3, and Lambda through scripts and IaC, minimizing manual configuration.
• Automate deployments across Kubernetes/containerized environments, cloud platforms, data platforms, and on-premises systems.
• Implement and enforce security, compliance, and governance policies at the infrastructure and repository levels.
• Support complex multi-cloud, multi-platform, and hybrid/on-prem environments.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment, and production issues and participate in incident response.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps/Platform Engineering with deep AWS expertise.
• 5+ years of AWS experience, including strong knowledge of EKS, S3, Lambda, networking, security, and architecture.
• 5+ years of Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• 5+ years of Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• 5+ years of Python, Bash, Shell, or similar scripting/programming.
• 5+ years of Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting.
• Strong experience with GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar repositories.
• 3+ years of CI/CD experience with tools such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, etc.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, architecture, and automation patterns.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and incident-response capabilities.
• AWS Architecture certification preferred.

Ideal Candidate

A proven Senior/Level III DevOps or Platform Engineer who can independently design, automate, deploy, troubleshoot, and explain AWS infrastructure from start to finish with minimal reliance on manual configuration. Only highly qualified, hands-on candidates with verifiable experience should apply.
