About the role
Realty Income is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its fast-growing Acquisitions and Development legal team. The ideal candidate will provide professional legal counsel, supervise legal services, and handle a variety of real estate acquisition and development matters.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, analyze, manage, negotiate, document and close a wide range of multifaceted real estate acquisition and development transactions.
- Review, draft, negotiate and approve documents relating to the acquisition of real estate, such as confidentiality agreements, letters of intent, purchase agreements, escrow instructions, lease agreements, lease or other document abstracts, amendments, assignments, estoppels, development agreements, title objection letters, deeds, closing documents, business entity documents, transaction summaries, etc.
- Supervise paralegals and legal assistants in coordinating escrow closings and post-closing matters.
- Communicate and negotiate with a variety of external parties, such as brokers, external counsel, third-party vendors.
- Handle PM legal matters as assigned, including drafting/negotiating lease administration documents, managing and closing leasing transactions, negotiating and processing condemnations, easements, rights of way, rights of entry and similar agreements affecting title to properties, reviewing and interpreting REA issues and other similar title encumbrances, managing and monitoring environmental issues, drafting/ negotiating environmental license agreements, consulting with PM on deal structuring, consulting with PM on lease compliance matters and interpretation of lease terms, conditions and issues, participating in workouts, including direct communications and negotiations with tenants and counsel, drafting and negotiating workout documents, managing ongoing litigation, retaining and overseeing local counsel as and when necessary, managing/overseeing property and liability insurance claims and related matters.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- At least three years of commercial real estate acquisitions and development experience, either in house or with a law firm.
- Active bar license in good standing in the state in which you reside.
- Experience working cross-functionally in a corporate setting and using business acumen to resolve unique and complex real estate issues is preferred.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.

- Knowledge of real estate laws and regulations.

Pay
- The pay range for this role is $121,358 - $202,265 - $242,808.
