Senior Legal Counsel (Employment)

This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal counsel on operational and strategic matters
• Serve as lead counsel on employment-related disputes
• Conduct and advise on complex investigations regarding workplace and student issues
• Negotiate settlements and manage insurance claims effectively
• Advise on compliance with federal and state employment laws
• Support labor relations, including collective bargaining

Qualifications

• 10+ years practicing employment law, particularly in higher education
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
• Active California bar license
• Proven experience providing legal counsel and risk assessment on employment and labor matters
• Expertise in handling complex workplace issues, including investigations and regulatory compliance

Pay

$175,000 – $180,000 annually
