Senior Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Providing legal advice on a variety of legal matters with a primary emphasis on drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements for customers, partners and suppliers.
• Reviewing, drafting and negotiating various standard and non-standard contracts and related documents in support of business needs and initiatives.
• Representative agreement types include Software licensing agreements; Master Services Agreement, Non-Disclosure Agreement, vendor agreements, marketing agreements, distribution, resale and other channel agreements.
• Identify commercial, legal and compliance risks arising from existing and contemplated commercial transactions and initiatives.
• Monitoring legal, legislative and regulatory trends applicable to the business (i.e. data privacy, security and data protection laws).
• Working with other departments across the globe to ensure consistency of advice.
• Reporting matters as required to the Legal Director.
• Leading with other legal and compliance projects as requested.

Requirements

• Law degree from an accredited law school and active licence to practice law
• 8+ years in a similar role
• Excellent written and oral, negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and prioritize high priority tasks
• Ability to hit the ground running and enjoying working alongside senior stakeholders
• High level of attention to detail and ability to work independently and also to be part of a team
• Prior in-house experience in a fast-paced environment working to tight deadlines
• Enthusiastic and self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and a willing helpful attitude
• Understands business challenges and works to develop sensible and commercially reasonable compromise positions
• International experience and data privacy expertise are desired but not essential
