Senior Legal Counsel
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, review, and negotiation of diverse commercial agreements, including service, procurement, technology, consulting, and construction-related contracts.
- Advise internal teams on legal terms and business exposure involving indemnification, insurance obligations, dispute provisions, and overall contract interpretation.
- Create, refine, and manage contract templates and legal playbooks to improve consistency and efficiency across contracting processes.
- Support the handling of claims, disputes, and matters that may lead to litigation, while partnering with external counsel when formal legal proceedings arise.
- Aid in responding to regulatory inquiries and contributing to internal reviews related to compliance or fact-finding matters.
- Work closely with land and operations teams to assess real estate and land use documents such as easements, rights-of-way, and surface access agreements.
- Help address and resolve disputes involving landowners and property-related business interests.
- Collaborate with senior legal leadership on complex legal, regulatory, and corporate initiatives that affect the broader business.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law and membership in good standing in the applicable jurisdiction.
- At least 7 years of legal experience, ideally combining law firm training with in-house counsel responsibilities.
- Demonstrated success drafting and negotiating commercial contracts across multiple agreement types.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial risk assessment, and practical business operations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Industry experience in energy, infrastructure, environmental, industrial, oilfield services, water midstream, or similar sectors is preferred.
