The California Department of Social Services, Legal Division, is recruiting to fill two permanent, full-time Senior Legal Analyst positions in the Enforcement Branch, Riverside Bureau. The Senior Legal Analyst provides paralegal support to the attorneys in the Legal Division. The Senior Legal Analyst may serve in a lead capacity over other paralegals. Some travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Drafting pleadings on the most complex issues
• Drafting settlement agreements
• Analyzing statutory, regulatory and case law
• Performing other work associated with trial preparation as needed

Requirements

• Must have ability to analyze legal issues accurately and present those issues in writing in an effective manner
• Must be able to work cooperatively with attorneys, other paralegals, support staff, licensing staff, and the public
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment
• Must be able to obtain a Background Investigation clearance prior to being hired, including criminal records background check clearance by the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation
• Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s)

Qualifications

• Current classification in the Senior Legal Analyst series, or eligible for lateral transfer, reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility
• Individuals who reside outside of California may be admitted to the job interview, but must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment

Pay

• $6,330.00 - $7,929.00 per month
• New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable
