About the role
Full-time position at the Institute for Statistics and Mathematics, starting November 1, 2026, and ending after 4 years. A multi-stage evaluation is planned after three years; successful achievement may lead to permanent employment.
Responsibilities
- Independent academic teaching in mathematics and statistics for WU’s bachelor and various master programs
- Approximately 10 weekly teaching hours per semester (exact amount depends on other duties)
- Planning, development, and quality control of lectures in mathematics and statistics for classroom, hybrid, and online formats
- Supervision of academic theses at the bachelor and master level
- Managerial duties (Planpunktverantwortung) in mathematics or statistics and organization of exams
- Development of software solutions for teaching and examination purposes
- Academic support for WU’s central entrance exam
- Independent research activities in mathematics or statistics with applications in economics and business, aligned with the Institute’s research agenda
Requirements
- Doctorate/PhD in mathematics, statistics, or equivalent (upon commencement of the contract)
- Teaching experience in mathematics or statistics at the university level
- Proven ability to teach in German and English
- Excellent didactic skills, documented e.g. by teaching evaluations
- Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods
- Scientific expertise in mathematics/statistics and their application in economics and business, evidenced by publications in relevant international journals and conference participation
- Willingness to participate in the scientific discourse at the Institute for Statistics and Mathematics
- Experience with software solutions for automated exam generation and marking is an advantage

Pay
The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €5,014.30 (14 times per year). Salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience. Additional attractive social benefits are offered.
