Senior Lead Strategy & Planning Consultant, Executive Director
About the role
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Strategy & Planning Consultant, Executive Director to join the Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) Strategy team. The Senior Lead Consultant will advise and support the Head of WIM Strategy, the Strategy leadership team, and WIM business leaders in shaping business innovation, growth opportunities, and strategic priorities across the wealth and investment management ecosystem. This is the Strategy team’s most senior individual‑contributor role, responsible for taking the least‑defined, highest‑stakes questions from hypothesis through executive decision and influencing members of the WIM Operating Committee and their teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of strategic plans that position WIM for sustainable long‑term growth and lead major sections of the WIM annual strategic plan and strategy presentations for the Board of Directors and Investor Day.
- Update, challenge, and refine the long‑term strategic vision and growth plan for assigned WIM businesses, encompassing advisory, brokerage, digital and self‑directed wealth, deposits, lending, and trust.
- Develop the strategy for digital and self‑directed wealth products, including client segmentation, the self‑directed‑to‑advised funnel, pricing and digital engagement economics, and build, buy, or partner recommendations.
- Develop the workplace wealth strategy across stock‑plan, equity compensation, and retirement offerings; evaluate and structure partnership agreements, commercial terms, economics, and risk allocation, supporting negotiation with Legal, Risk, Finance, Product, and Corporate Development partners.
- Build the growth case for deposits, securities‑based and mortgage lending, and trust and fiduciary relationships, including cash and sweep economics, client primacy, and channel‑level opportunity sizing.
- Formulate WIM’s point of view on emerging areas such as digital assets, regulatory developments, competitor moves, and client demand, translating them into a recommended sequence of offers and investment decisions.
- Identify, size, and quantify AI‑enabled organizational efficiency opportunities across WIM and build the business case with Finance, Human Resources, and Technology.
- Advance WIM’s understanding of evolving client expectations, advisor needs, competitive trends, regulatory developments, and technology innovations; benchmark across wealth managers, RIAs, asset managers, digital wealth platforms, private banks, and fintech entrants.
- Drive alignment and coordination with firm‑wide and cross‑LOB objectives, including Consumer Banking & Lending, Commercial Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking, and Corporate Strategy.
- Provide guidance and coaching to less‑experienced Strategy professionals and contribute to Wells Fargo’s firm‑wide Strategy capabilities.
- Advance the team’s internal consulting and analytics capabilities, working within an AI‑enabled operating model where agents and AI tooling perform research, modeling, and material production traditionally done by analysts.
- Ensure insights, strategic recommendations, and execution roadmaps are clearly communicated and understood by senior leaders and stakeholders across WIM and the enterprise.
- Deliver long‑term, large‑scale solutions that require vision, creativity, advanced analytical and inductive thinking, and coordination of highly complex activities to support responsible growth, risk excellence, and differentiated client and advisor experiences.
