Senior Lead Software Engineer - Equities Electronic Trading

A leading global financial institution is investing heavily in a multi-year greenfield electronic trading buildout and is seeking a senior technologist to help define and build its next-generation execution platform. This is a highly visible opportunity to drive the architecture, design, and delivery of business-critical trading systems that sit at the core of the firm’s electronic trading strategy.

What You'll Do

• Lead the architecture and development of high-performance, low-latency trading systems
• Design and build execution infrastructure, trading services, and algorithmic trading capabilities
• Develop and optimize distributed Java applications leveraging modern microservices architecture
• Partner closely with quantitative researchers, product leaders, and senior technology stakeholders
• Drive engineering best practices across design, development, testing, and deployment
• Mentor engineers and influence the technical direction of the broader platform
• Solve complex performance, scalability, and resiliency challenges within a real-time trading environment

Must Have

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Expert-level Core Java development
• Experience building low-latency, distributed systems
• Background developing electronic trading or algorithmic trading platforms
• Experience with smart order routing, execution workflows, or benchmark algorithms
• Strong understanding of FIX and market data-driven systems
• Experience designing and scaling microservices architectures
• Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and senior leadership

• KDB+, Solace, AMPS, Chronicle, or similar messaging technologies

• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives

Location: NYC or Jersey City (Hybrid, 3 Days Per Week)
