Join a high-performance agile team maintaining and improving governance technology products. As a Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology Office, you will contribute to designing and delivering trusted, mission-critical distributed technology products in a secure, reliable, and scalable way. The access governance engineering team maintains and enhances an access control system integral to business operations at JP Morgan Chase, involving complex operations and collaboration across multiple teams on different schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Decompose technical problems and build loosely coupled, highly cohesive solutions.
  • Implement solutions with an eye for detail and a passion for quality code.
  • Contribute to a team culture of mutual respect and active ownership.
  • Be a constant learner who questions the status quo and solves problems creatively.
  • Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, incident/root-cause analysis).
  • Establish measurable validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promote reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
  • Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve value realized by automation at scale.

Requirements

  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and programming skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in Java development and with distributed computing.
  • Experience with prompt engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting).
  • Ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
  • Experience coaching senior engineers/leads on compliant usage patterns and controls.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of refactoring techniques, domain-driven design, and object-oriented design patterns; experience evolving legacy codebases safely.
  • Experience designing and implementing distributed services and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with GoLang or Rust programming languages.
  • Experience with semantic models and knowledge graphs.
  • Experience with formal proofs.
