Senior/Lead Full Stack Developer – Java, React & GenAI

About the role

As a Full Stack Developer, you will design and deliver secure, scalable applications that integrate Generative AI, React, Java and Spring Boot within complex Product Lifecycle Management environments. You will collaborate with product owners, domain experts, DevOps teams, and technical stakeholders to advance high-quality product innovation and consistent business value across a global enterprise portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable Java and Spring Boot microservices that support complex Product Lifecycle Management workflows, enterprise integrations, and global users.
• Build responsive, accessible React user interfaces that create intuitive experiences for engineering and product management teams working in hybrid environments.
• Integrate Generative AI capabilities that improve Product Lifecycle Management processes, including requirements analysis, design review assistance, and intelligent documentation generation.
• Partner with product owners, domain experts, and platform teams to translate business requirements into secure technical designs, implementation plans, and reliable deployment practices.
• Improve application performance, quality, and maintainability by refactoring existing services and components, strengthening automated test coverage, and supporting issue triage and root cause analysis.
• Document solution designs, integration patterns, and operational run-books while sharing best practices in Generative AI, React, and Spring Boot to support team capability and onboarding.

Work model: Hybrid. This role requires 3 days per week at Cognizant’s or Client’s office in Mountain View, CA. A few roles may require in-person interviews at Cognizant offices or client locations, depending on project or client needs.

Requirements

• 9+ years of strong hands-on experience developing enterprise-scale applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Advanced React development skills, including component-driven design, state management, and integration with RESTful services.
• Practical experience integrating Generative AI models, prompt strategies, or AI-enabled features into enterprise applications.
• Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management processes, including configuration management, bill of materials structures, or engineering change workflows.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented design, clean code principles, secure coding practices, and automated testing.
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and Agile delivery practices.
• Clear communication skills with the ability to document technical decisions and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Java professional certification or cloud and AI platform certifications relevant to Generative AI solutions.
• Experience modernizing existing Java Spring Boot services and React components to improve long-term maintainability.
• Familiarity with application observability, production support, performance profiling, and root cause analysis.
• A continuous learning mindset with current knowledge of Generative AI frameworks, Java ecosystems, and front-end technologies.

Pay

The annual salary for this position will be between $70,000 to $141,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance.
