Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer: Energy and Power (Nationwide)

About the role
This senior-level position in our Philadelphia, PA office provides the opportunity to lead an electrical engineering team, engage with clients, evaluate their energy needs, and develop concept-level plans through detailed design for full execution. We deliver end-to-end lifecycle services from exploration and development to operation and repowering/retirement. The role involves collaboration with Client Account Managers and sales professionals on strategic pursuits, requiring sophisticated communication, problem-solving, and project delivery skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead an electrical engineering team to provide advisory services and engineering design solutions for clients across all market sectors.
- Collaborate with Client Account Managers and sales professionals on strategic pursuits.
- Engage with clients to evaluate energy needs, develop concept-level plans, and execute detailed designs.
- Mentor and manage junior and mid-level electrical engineering staff.
- Participate in business development, strategy formation, and sales to expand the energy transition portfolio.
- Develop proposals, project execution plans, and scope development, including manhour estimates for engineering services.
- Anticipate challenges and manage "up and out" while supporting large teams responsible for daily project delivery details.
- Travel as required to support project needs (typically less than 50%).
- Work at least 2 days per week in the Philadelphia, PA office when not traveling.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- At least 10 years of engineering design and/or consulting experience.
- Professional Engineering (PE) licensure (any U.S. state), with the ability to acquire additional state licenses as needed.
- Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships, win work, and deliver innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in business growth strategy, including exploration and development of new project opportunities.
- Experience with proposal development and project execution planning.
- Passion for mentoring and developing junior technical staff.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills.
Skills
The following qualifications are highly regarded:
- Experience with HV or MV substations.
- Power distribution systems and microgrids.
- Power generation projects exceeding 10MW capacity.
- Renewable energy projects (wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, and other technologies).
- Energy storage systems.
- Power system modeling using SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar software.
- Protection and Control, SCADA, or power system automation.
- Campus utility master planning or decarbonization/climate response planning.
- Cogeneration or combined heat and power systems.
- Thermal utility plants and distribution systems (steam, hot water, chilled water).

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $129,400.00 to $226,500.00. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
