Senior / Lead Analyst, Market Risk

Reports directly to the Manager, Market Risk. Responsible for developing the Risk Department’s capabilities and delivering current Risk Management requirements, including daily risk reporting to ensure compliance with Risk Policies and Limits, as well as providing risk analysis for proposed transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and utilize financial modeling and complex risk models or tools to understand and analyze market risk.
  • Operate in Endur to ensure accurate representation of complex transactions in Cheniere’s systems of record, reflecting associated risks.
  • Provide ad-hoc risk analysis for complex transactions proposed by the Front Office.
  • Liaise with Front Office on risk analysis related to its current portfolio and proposed transactions.
  • Deliver daily reporting to ensure compliance with Risk policy.
  • Perform additional duties in risk modeling and analysis, including development work in market, credit, and operational risk.
  • Provide backup support for responsibilities of other Risk Team members.
  • General risk support and recommendations to the Houston office, including collaboration with market and credit risk teams.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and ability to assess, analyze, and monitor market risk in a trading environment using advanced analytical, numerical, and statistical skills.
  • Quantitative and financial modeling skills.
  • Experience analyzing US natural gas and/or power markets.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical skills; self-motivated and capable of independent achievement.
  • Strong business analysis, modeling, problem-solving skills, and technical propensity with strong follow-through.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with OpenLink Endur, SQL, Zema, or other risk tools is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • ERP or FRM certification a plus.
  • Senior: Minimum three (3) years of experience within the commodity trading/marketing industry, preferably in a risk management role.
  • Lead: Minimum seven (7) years of experience within the commodity trading/marketing industry, preferably in a risk management role.

Work Conditions

  • Performed in a typical office environment, subject to time pressures and constraints, often dependent on input from others.
  • Occasional remote work after normal hours or on weekends.
  • May require overtime.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
