About the Role

The Senior Landscape Architect – Project Manager functions as a fully competent Landscape Architect in all aspects of assignments, responsible for planning and designing various community facilities and places. This role develops and evaluates plans, assesses feasibility, and manages complex and sensitive professional landscape architecture designs and planning projects that are authentic to the local context and community setting. The position requires managing clients, tracking project budgets, engaging in business development, and professional networking, often outside normal business hours to meet client requests or attend meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technical and project management for the day-to-day preparation of deliverables.
  • Develop and grow client relationships and partnerships.
  • Responsible for day-to-day staffing and project scheduling.
  • Lead or assist on complex landscape architecture projects, designs, planning studies, contracts, and proposals.
  • Review complete project documents and perform QA/QC.
  • Represent the organization in communications and conferences.
  • Train and provide technical guidance to staff.
  • Produce project reports, designs, graphics in plan, section, and 3-D/perspective views.
  • Lead project/public meetings on complex projects.
  • Prepare bills for projects.
  • Identify, organize, and lead community service programs.
  • Serve as a functional manager to staff.
  • Apply knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Adept with citizen involvement techniques and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience, including 3 to 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Landscape Architecture license is strongly desired.
  • Active member of a professional practice organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of Landscape Architecture and Planning.

Skills

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced oral, written, and graphic communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively delegate tasks/projects.
  • Ability to effectively motivate and develop staff.
  • Strong financial skills related to budget and project billing.
  • Supervisory responsibility for staff necessary to complete assignments.

Pay

  • Albany, NY: $48/hour - $65/hour
  • Poughkeepsie, NY: $50/hour - $70/hour
  • White Plains, NY: $55/hour - $75/hour

Pay is based on applicant’s ability, experience, and labor market.
