Senior Laboratory Technician I (Environmental Science)

About the role

Under the direct supervision of professional laboratory personnel, an incumbent in this position performs traditional chemical, physical, and bacteriological tests of environmental samples and other products. The role involves the accurate completion of a variety of standardized tests and procedures in the discipline of Environmental Science.

Responsibilities

• Prepares media, solutions, standards, and samples for analysis by others.
• Maintains laboratory equipment in accordance with established procedures.
• Performs tests and adheres to established policies, practices, and procedures, with work reviewed by professional laboratory personnel.
• May provide partial supervision over other technical and subordinate laboratory personnel on a project or temporary basis as assigned.
• Ensures a satisfactory performance rating from the New York State Department of Health for approved laboratory procedures.
• Works overtime, holidays, and weekends when required.
• Performs related work as required.
