Summary
The Scientist II / Senior Laboratory Scientist will conduct active laboratory research under the mentorship of a PhD scientist while developing advanced scientific and technical skills in the area of electron emission. The role involves setting up and running experiments, operating specialized laboratory and electronic equipment, collecting and analyzing experimental data, supporting software and instrument development, troubleshooting laboratory equipment, and communicating research findings to scientists and engineers.
Responsibilities
- Set up and conduct laboratory experiments.
- Operate high-voltage power supplies, low-current ammeters, ultra-high-vacuum systems, and electronic lab equipment.
- Perform thermal imaging and monitor experiments.
- Collect I/V curve data from electron emitters.
- Conduct noise, energy spread, and brightness measurements.
- Use SEM and FIB systems for imaging and surface analysis.
- Run thermal, electrical, and electron-emission computer simulations.
- Analyze experimental data and evaluate emitter performance.
