Responsibilities
- Performs Jury and fiscal clerical duties.
- Coordinates and prepares jurors for jury selection.
- Completes filing and data entry, processes necessary paperwork, answers questions and maintains the jury room.
- Ensures accuracy with allocation of funds.
- Completes fiscal functions for separation of duties and independent review of for audit trail.
- Provides customer service and assists internal and external court related personnel and vendors.
- Sorts and files various department documents and materials according to an established filing system.
- Performs juror payroll, bonus payments, waivers and donations.
- Reconciles tax liens, plat invoices and child support expenditures.
- Daily verification of bank deposits. A/R daily and A/R end of month.
- Absorbs and reviews quarterly reports to process CCU and account write-offs as necessary.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
- Experience: Two (2) years of work experience, to include one (1) year in court operations or in the fields of criminal justice, parole and probation, legal or financial services.
- Note: A Bachelor’s Degree may substitute the required work experience.
- A Paralegal/Associates Degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.
- A Paralegal Certificate may substitute the required work experience.
- Knowledge of:
- General office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Standard legal forms and documents used in the Judiciary.
- Personal computers and software to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Job related terminology, codes, comments, notations, orders, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Basic English and arithmetic to include, but not limited to, spelling, punctuation, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Skill in:
- Customer service and handling problems tactfully and patiently.
- Analyzing records, reports, and other business and financial documents and noting details and facts pertinent to the audit assignment.
- Utilizing Microsoft Office products to include, but not limited to, Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Communicating information effectively.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Organization and time management.
- Ability to:
- Use standard office and business equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, spreadsheets, database software, copier, scanner, and fax machine.
- Interpret, apply, and follow a variety of written or verbal instructions.
- Acquire knowledge of Maryland Judiciary procedures, rules, policies and/or procedures.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with employees, the public, attorneys, and other government officials.
- Perform basic accounting procedures.
- Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Equipment, Machinery and Tools:
- Personal computer to input and retrieve information, create correspondence, case management, Word and Excel.
- Printer, copier, scanner, fax machine to make photocopies and send documents.
- Calculator to balance money.
- Telephone to communicate with internal and external customers.
- Software and Computer Skills:
- MDEC. Microsoft (Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook).
- WebGen, Workday. Adobe. Connect ? Timesheet/Personal Documents. Teams ? meetings and communication with staff and judge/judge?s chambers. Courtnet
