Responsibilities
- Support the Project Architect through the production of Design Development and Construction Documents submissions.
- Apply technical, problem-solving, software, and graphics skills to assist in the completion of high-quality, technical design solutions, drawings, specifications, and Revit models.
- Take on a direct role in providing technical solutions for major components of the project, working directly with the Project Architect.
- Assist the Project Architect in leading the Job Captain(s) as well as consultants on the project.
- Communicate effectively, co-leading project communication efforts with the Project Architect and Project Manager both within the internal team, and with the consultant team.
- Take on a more active role in managing the project BIM, working with the BIM Manager and / or BIM Specialist.
- Monitor and maintain high levels of model and drawing quality and model health across the team, including consultants.
- Maintain quality control of documents for graphics, standards, and coordination.
- Coordinate with engineering consultants and their BIM teams.
- Coordinate with specification writers to ensure consistency across drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with project designers to maintain design intent while developing model/drawings/specifications, monitor that design intent is being met.
- Coordinate with vendors to maintain design intent and obtain DSA/jurisdictional approval of materials and systems.
- Maintain communication within the internal project team and consultant team, keep the Project Architect and Project Manager informed.
- Conduct code analysis and research, coordinate with the Project Architect and Project Manager.
- Assist with specific technical design aspects of the project, working somewhat independently with guidance from the Project Architect.
- Address constructability comments, plan check corrections, and senior staff review comments.
- Work with DSA and other jurisdictional agencies to obtain approvals.
- Aid in career development by providing technical guidance and mentorship to Job Captains and Emerging Professionals.
- Pursue completion of licensure and other certifications such as LEED with guidance from mentors.
- Pursue continuing education opportunities with guidance from mentors.
Qualifications
- Professional degree in Architecture
- At least 6 to 8 years related experience in an architectural firm
- Significant experience of at least 3 years using Autodesk Revit in a professional setting
