Type: 6-month contract (possibility of extension)

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Java Full Stack Developer to support the modernization of the Care Coordination 360 product line. This role is primarily backend-focused (70% Java / 30% Angular) and involves migrating existing REST-based applications from an on-premises environment to AWS cloud-native architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java 21 and Angular.
  • Modernize existing REST-based services into AWS cloud-native solutions.
  • Develop and enhance RESTful web services and backend APIs.
  • Build highly performant applications using Spring Framework and JDBC integration.
  • Work with relational databases and MongoDB for application development.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes (Amazon EKS).
  • Participate in cloud transformation initiatives, migrating applications from on-premises environments to AWS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Visit the Reston or Washington DC office when required for team collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Strong experience as a Java Full Stack Developer.
  • Java 21 is required.
  • Experience with Angular 16, 17, or 18.
  • Approximately 70% Backend (Java) and 30% Frontend (Angular) development experience.
  • Extensive experience developing RESTful Web Services.
  • Strong knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and JDBC integration.
  • Experience working with MongoDB (required).
  • Experience with any relational database (DB2 preferred, any RDBMS acceptable).
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Experience deploying applications in AWS cloud environments.
  • Active AWS Level 2 Certification (Developer Associate or Solutions Architect Associate) is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of application performance optimization and backend frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience migrating enterprise applications from on-premises infrastructure to AWS.
  • Experience with the Amazon AQD (Developer Edition) platform used within FEP environments.
  • Healthcare domain experience, particularly supporting Care Coordination or Health Plan applications.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • AWS Certified Developer - Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (required).
